My first healing

AS WE WALKED HOME from school, my best friend, Cait, and I laughed and talked about the two cutest guys in our sixth-grade class. But even though we were laughing, something seemed wrong. As we rounded the corner near my house, I looked at the silhouette of the bare trees against the early evening sky and took a deep breath.

"See you tomorrow," I said.

"See ya, Alison!" said Cait as she waved goodbye.
