To Our Readers

This week's welcome is actually a farewell—along with a happy introduction. After eight years as Editor of this magazine as well as its sister publications The Christian Science Journal and the Heralds of Christian Science, this is my last "To Our Readers" column. I'll be taking on a new assignment in the coming year and am delighted to announce that Mary Metzner Trammell will be assuming the responsibilities of Editor of the Christian Science magazines.

Mary Trammell has most recently served as Associate Editor with direct supervision of the Heralds. She has held this position also for the past eight years, which has been a period of exceptional progress and innovation for the Heralds. (And, by the way, one of Mrs. Trammell's editorials appears this week on p. 28.)

It's hard to put into words how much it has meant to have the opportunity to visit with each of you regularly through the pages of the Sentinel. You've provided wonderful encouragement as we've redesigned the magazine, responding to your insights and thoughtful suggestions. Many of you have written to say how much the Sentinel means to your life. You've told us how it has uplifted, comforted, and strengthened you. Not a few have told us how it has healed you. Like the man in prison who reestablished a relationship with his wife and children, or the woman who reported that the symptoms of cancer had vanished, or the new reader who thanked us for having the pages of the Sentinel "set to the heartbeat of Christians everywhere."
