My testimony is long overdue, as this incident happened...

My testimony is long overdue, as this incident happened ten years ago. One evening at dusk I was driving my car with a heavy bag of fertilizer on the back seat. While on a road with woodland on both sides, I saw a cock pheasant emerge from my right and run in front of the car. I thought he would fly across the bonnet of the car, but he did not, so I jammed on my brakes and stopped within a few feet, happy to see him disappear safely into the wood on my left. But the suddeness of the stop, and the fact that the car had bucket seats, made the sack fly onto the top of the back of my seat, landing on my neck and pinning me forward. I was completely winded.

I prayed that I would have the strength to push the seat and the sack back and open the door of the car. I was able to do this and take some deep breaths before starting to drive again. I continued my journey home, where I managed to make myself something to drink and to sit down.

To my surprise, on trying to get up I found I was paralysed. I had to remain where I was that night, and the following day and night. Then somehow I managed to drag myself to the telephone, and called a friend. She contacted a Christian Science practitioner for me, who began prayerful treatment immediately. My friend also came to help me have something to eat, and so forth.
