With great joy, I am able to give a testimony of the healing of typhoid fever, diagnosed in Spain in 1969 by three doctors. The disease was reportable in that country, and I was required to have medical treatment. After many months with no positive response to any medication, I was told by a specialist that there was nothing more that could be done, and that it would be wise to spend the last few weeks of my life in a sanitarium.

I thanked him for his care but decided to stay at home (where I was cared for), although I was unable to walk, sleep, or read. Much of the time I was delirious.

I cabled a Christian Science practitioner in England, and she responded that she had begun to pray for me specifically to heal this disease. I remembered this statement from the Christian Science textbook: "The highest attenuation of homœopathy and the most potent rises above matter into mind. This discovery leads to more light. From it may be learned that either human faith or the divine Mind is the healer and that there is no efficacy in a drug" (p. 153). I began to feel the warmth of divine Love and lost much fear of the aggressive symptoms of the disease. (Although government regulations mandated that I take medication at first, I believe this stopped, simply because I was not expected to live.)
