Christian Science class instruction: nurturing the desire to heal

The young couple had been married only a few years. They were out of school now, and their first baby had arrived. Both wife and husband had discovered new purpose in their lives after having been introduced to Christian Science. The family was finding its center in God.

The young man and woman loved God, and they yearned to serve Him and to help others too. They were also coming to realize that to be a follower of Christ Jesus would mean being ready and willing to heal through prayer. They deeply wanted to know God better and to be more confident and consecrated in the work of Christian healing.

As they continued in their study of Christian Science, they also began to pray about taking Primary class instruction. (See Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, Art. XXVI and XXVII). They had learned that this two-week course was available to students of Christian Science who were seeking a deeper understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him, and who wanted to practice metaphysical healing more effectively. As they prayed, husband and wife came to feel individually that they would like to apply for class that year. They felt that this would be important to their spiritual progress and would be a strength to their family. As it turned out, they both sent applications to the same teacher and were accepted.
