My husband and I were cycling when I had a bad tumble from my bike. One leg and foot were struck on impact. With some difficulty, we continued the ride while I prayed to see more clearly that there can be no lapses in God's care for me.

The obvious appearance of injury faded, but as weeks and months passed, the complete healing had not taken place. There was some pain, and the injured foot did not look like the other one. I denied that age could hold back the healing. Also, the suggestion that I could have a lingering effect of the accident was recognized as untrue about man. Man—our true being— is God's spiritual child, reflecting His completeness, now and always.

Around this time a large advertisement placed by a doctor specializing in foot disorders began to appear regularly in our local newspaper. You couldn't miss seeing it. The ad detailed the number of bones in a foot and emphasized that each has to work perfectly with the others. Seeing this set me thinking in a new direction. Was I believing that effortless movement is just a physical, mechanical operation? I knew that freedom of movement is essentially mental and not dependent on bones. Matter cannot dictate conditions for man, who is truly spiritual and has innate power to express God, Spirit.
