Christian Science was introduced to our family when my parents witnessed the healings of a child who could neither hear nor speak and of someone who had a severe deformity of the back. Subsequently my own healings of various childhood diseases came about through the prayers of Christian Science practitioners. Eventually my father became a practitioner.

As a young wife and mother I was overcome by a condition of paralysis that quickly spread from my feet upward. A practitioner was called. She vigorously spoke of the present dominion of God's infinite power, and she stressed the importance of expecting healing. Within an hour all evidence of the condition was gone.

Later my husband's work took our family of three halfway around the world to live. Our young daughter regularly took horseback riding lessons while I would sit in the car and read Christian Science periodicals while I waited. One day her horse became frightened and bolted. Our daughter jumped off her horse to avoid low tree branches, but she was injured in the fall. We prayed earnestly to understand that she had never been separated from God's care. She was soon completely healed of all effects of the fall.
