"'Do you have Women?' Marilyn Imhoff asked the newsstand clerk. 'No,' replied the clerk, who said he had lots of Womans, but no Women. 'I have Woman, New Woman, Complete Woman, Working Woman, New York Woman—all those Womans.'

" 'I, I guess I don't know what I want,' said Ms. Imhoff, who seemed suddenly dazed and confused, and turned on her heel and left—another victim of periodical proliferation shock syndrome.

"One hopes that she will not have to subscribe to The Psychotherapy Patient, also on sale at the newsstand on the concourse level of the Pan Am building, which may well sell a wider variety of magazines than any other newsstand in the world—about 2,500 different ones, including Bird Talk for talking-bird fanciers, Hot Water Living for hot-tub enthusiasts and the Biblical Archaeology Review, which, in an attempt to attract biblical archaeologists, put a beautiful woman on the cover (Nefertiti) along with the headline: 'Was Her Husband the First Monotheist?'
