During my years in Christian Science there have been many blessings, and it is with sincere gratitude that I submit the following account of some of them. I would specifically like to tell of the healings of two of our children. Our family was a growing one, and it finally consisted of my wife and I, six adopted children, and three foster children. Five of the six children were infants at the time of their adoption.

My wife and I had adopted two children when the social service worker called to ask if we would be interested in adopting another boy. We joyfully agreed. It was then that we were informed of the child's physical condition. He had spent the first six months of his life in hospital, unable to digest or retain food. He had had pneumonia with complications, and it was felt there was nothing more that could be done medically for him. The social worker said, "I think he just needs love. Would you be willing to try to help him?"

A few days later, when I arrived home from work, my wife presented me with our new baby. In all honesty I must admit that I had never seen such a pitiful form of humanity. As I held him in my arms, my heart was overwhelmed with love for this little one, who I knew was truly God's idea. As we read in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." I knew that through divine Love alone this child would be healed.
