"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding" (Prov. 3:5). I have seen the wisdom of this Biblical counsel.

My husband and I did not plan on having four children, and the news of my fourth pregnancy was met by us with apprehension. We were concerned about the added financial stress we thought a new child might bring; and ironically, I had given away every baby item we owned just a few months before. Having gone through three difficult labors previously, I feared the same again. A fundamental change in our thinking about this child was much needed.

To help me correct my thought about the situation, I sought the prayerful help of a Christian Science practitioner. I mentioned my fear and our financial concerns, and the practitioner pointed out that this baby was truly the child of God, spiritually endowed by the one Father-Mother, God. The child would be bringing the expression of divine qualities to our household, and this could not possibly be a burden.
