Christian Science was introduced to me several years ago by my husband, when our six-month-old son had an ear infection. A doctor had seen him several times within a two-week period, but the condition had not improved. Finally, one night when our son was crying in discomfort, I called a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer.

The practitioner was very calm and reassuring, yet firm about my God-given dominion over fear. Up until that point I had considered worry about my children's health natural and even necessary, though I now understand that the opposite is true, for as we read in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 368), "When fear disappears, the foundation of disease is gone." The results of the practitioner's prayers and my willingness to trust God were so sudden I was amazed. Every symptom and all discomfort disappeared, and our son slept through the night peacefully.

Another time, while our family was away from home, this little one became ill with a fever and such congestion that he could not nurse. He seemed weak, and I felt fearful.
