A chest X-ray taken for admission to college did not give me a clean bill of health. While the medical office did not specify what appeared to be wrong, I was informed the X-ray was not normal and was being sent to a specialist for further examination.

I was very fearful and asked for prayerful help from one of my Sunday School teachers, who was also a Christian Science practitioner. He asked me to ponder Isaiah 41:10 and said that he would pray for me. The verse reads, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

This assurance, and my prayer, helped calm my fear. I also recall the practitioner's absolute certainty that in reality there is nothing wrong with God's man, my true nature. And so it proved. I was given medical clearance for college admission.
