Many years ago my husband and I were invited by a friend to attend a Wednesday testimony meeting in a branch church. The book Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was mentioned by several testifiers. Later, when I was asked what I thought of the meeting, I said, "I would love to get that book and read it to find out more about Christian Science." So my husband and I got the book.

We began regularly attending Sunday services and Wednesday testimony meetings. Eventually we joined a branch church and became active members. Mother Church membership followed. Later we took Christian Science class instruction with the same teacher. Throughout the years we both had many healings. As a result of prayer, business problems were solved and houses were found when we needed them.

At one point I developed a mental problem. For some time I could not find any peace. I even contemplated suicide. But I remembered this statement in Science and Health (p. 203): "Death is not a stepping-stone to Life, immortality, and bliss." And in Miscellaneous Writings by Mrs. Eddy we read (pp. 52-53), "Man's existence is a problem to be wrought in divine Science." Further on she says: "Mortals have the sum of being to work out, and up, to its spiritual standpoint. They must work out of this dream or false claim of sensation and life in matter, and up to the spiritual realities of existence, before this false claim can be wholly dispelled. Committing suicide to dodge the question is not working it out." These truths awakened me and enabled me to pray more effectively for myself. From that time on I progressed until complete healing came.
