As a lifelong Christian Scientist, I have had many healings

As a lifelong Christian Scientist, I have had many healings.

At one time during high school I was involved in an automobile accident. That morning (Saturday) I had risen early to do an errand. During the night it had been snowing and sleeting, and the road to campus was slippery in spots. As I crested a hill, I hit a patch of ice that sent the car spinning. The car slid off the road and hit a telephone pole head-on. Since this car was not equipped with seat belts, I was thrown against the steering wheel and then the windshield.

I got out of the car to survey the damage. I was bleeding profusely from a gash on my head, and my arms and legs were badly bruised. Immediately I began to pray for myself. Very soon I was driven home by my soccer coach, who happened to be passing by. When I arrived home, I called the police. Then my mother and I drove to my car where we met the police. They suggested that I be taken to a hospital. But I declined, knowing that, as God's child, I was all right. I was calm and felt confident in placing my reliance on God's healing power, and I continued praying for myself. My mother and I then drove in her car to see a Christian Science nurse, who cleaned and bandaged the wound.
