I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude for Christian Science. While I was working as a janitor, a growth developed on the ball of my foot and was quite painful. Once I examined the spot and became very much afraid. Then this statement from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy came to me, and I tried to get a better understanding of God's man (p. 261): "Look away from the body into Truth and Love, the Principle of all happiness, harmony, and immortality." In my study of Christian Science I gained a clearer realization of the truth that I was indeed a spiritual idea, reflecting the divine Mind, God.

The growth on my foot completely disappeared. I can't even remember which foot had been affected. But even more wonderful than this freedom was the fact that doors were opened that enabled me to return to school to earn my teaching certificate. This certificate will enable me to fulfill a long-held desire to become a professional teacher and to use my talents to their greatest potential.

Many other healings have blessed me. While working in Indonesia, I was stricken with an illness and collapsed. My dad and his wife found me and lovingly took me to their plantation, where they insisted that a doctor examine me. The doctor diagnosed the disease as malaria and offered to treat me, but I declined medical care. I recovered through prayer, but the disease returned yearly.
