Sickness is no part of you

"That flu is no part of you," I heard my husband gently say to me. "That's true," I realized, and was instantly healed.

What does a Christian Scientist mean when, with spiritual conviction, he asserts that sin or sickness is no part of man? Was it absurd for my husband to say the flu was no part of me when the symptoms were so blatant? Would it be ridiculous to say some difficulty you're facing is no part of you? No! Not in the light of what the Master showed us about Christian healing through prayer.

Christ Jesus' prayers acknowledged God's presence and power over the claims of all sin and disease. He knew they were no part of man's true being as the image and likeness of God. We must pray as he did. We must know ourselves and others as this perfect, spiritual man. Recalling Jesus statement "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing," John 6:63. we recognize that Spirit, not flesh, gives man his perfect health. The carnal beliefs about man are an error, a mistaken sense of Life, God, and are no part of the real man. The spiritual truths of man, when accepted and understood, dissolve the errors of belief, and these drop away.
