FROM THE DIRECTORS

New appointments

The Board of Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society is happy to announce that J. Anthony Periton of London, England, has been appointed a Trustee of the Publishing Society, effective January 1, 1983, succeeding J. Robert Erwin. Because of his business expertise and knowledge of our headquarters operation, we asked Mr. Erwin to come to Boston during a period of vital development in the Publishing Society. He has completed that assignment and is returning to Texas with our sincere appreciation.

Prior to his appointment as Trustee, Mr. Periton was Manager of the Publishing Society. He has served The Mother Church since 1975 in various capacities, including Manager of the Society's international operations based in London.

John H. Hoagland, Jr., of Wellesley, Massachusetts, has been appointed to succeed Mr. Periton as Manager of the Publishing Society. As Chairman of Hoagland, MacLachlan & Company, Inc., Mr. Hoagland has for many years provided management and marketing counsel to major companies in the United States and Europe. A lifelong Christian Scientist, he has served his branch church in many capacities, including First Reader and chairman of the executive board. Also, he was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association when it became an independent nursing facility and later its Treasurer as well as Trustee. He is a graduate of Yale University.
