The cleansing waters of spiritual sense

Hercules, the mythical superman of ancient Greece, took on the imposing task of cleaning the Augean stables; the stalls, housing huge herds of cattle, had been neglected for thirty years. He accomplished this by diverting a nearby river through the stables, and the fresh, flowing water did the job in a single day.

In order to clear our thoughts of accumulated ills, we need not waste effort in psychologically analyzing the past in order to blame current problems on old mistakes. We can't allow fallacious histories of physical sense observations to deny the scientific fact that God's creation is good.

The cleansing waters of spiritual sense sweep away old errors of belief and wash human consciousness, baptizing it in Spirit, so that the purity of God, Soul, can be understood and demonstrated in the healing of mankind. Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health, "The way to extract error from mortal mind is to pour in truth through flood-tides of Love." Science and Health, p. 201.
