Dealing with hate

Throughout history hatred has played havoc with humanity, sometimes reaching cataclysmic proportions in the form of genocide. How can we help to heal this recurring human holocaust?

The place to start is right in our own thought. Christian Science shows us how to eliminate hatred—resistance to Truth and Love—from consciousness and thus to obey the commandment, "Thou shalt not kill." Ex. 20:13.

Christ Jesus, in his Sermon on the Mount, indicated that obedience to the spirit of this commandment demands far more than abstaining from murder. See Matt. 5:21, 22 . It fundamentally involves guarding our mental home against anger, resentment, malevolence, hatred, which often motivate crime.
