For many years there was a blemish on the side of my face

For many years there was a blemish on the side of my face. I was not concerned about it but just accepted it as one of those things. Then one day, quite suddenly, I felt strongly that the blemish should not be there, that it should be healed through the truth of being as revealed in Christian Science.

I turned to God and prayed earnestly. A healing I had received years earlier through a vivid realization of God as Life came to mind. Now, once again, consciousness was illumined by a wonderful conviction that God is Life, the only Life there really is.

I looked up a passage in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, where she has written (p. 479): "Matter cannot see, feel, hear, taste, nor smell." Further on she adds, "Take away so-called mortal mind, which constitutes matter's supposed selfhood, and matter can take no cognizance of matter." This enabled me to discern that since God, Spirit, is the only Life, matter cannot outline man's condition. The growth on my face could not possibly have life; it was a product of mortal mind, and therefore without substance or reality. I also pondered this statement in Genesis (1:31): "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."
