Feeling the divine energy

If one day seems like another, our jobs dull and friendships stale, we might ask, "How can I feel more alive, more awake to life's possibilities?" Mrs. Eddy writes, "Let us feel the divine energy of Spirit, bringing us into newness of life and recognizing no mortal nor material power as able to destroy." Science and Health, p. 249;

The very desire to live a better life is the result of divine energy, the omniaction of Spirit penetrating the dullness of human consciousness. This desire means we have been touched by Spirit. This stir in consciousness, if acted upon, will bring us into "newness of life" and instill a hunger and thirst for Truth that cannot and will not be satisfied by halfhearted prayer and superficial study.

A Christian Scientist longed with deep hunger to really feel the energy of Spirit that satisfies and gives the certainty of God with us. One day she reasoned, "What does it mean to me to 'feel' Spirit? Wouldn't it mean to be influenced only by Truth and acknowledge the perfection of God and man as His offspring? To affirm only the presence of divine Spirit and its law of harmony?" Paul tells us, "Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Phil. 4:8. The Scientist realized that in her very acknowledgment of the omnipresence of Spirit and its good effect she was feeling the divine energy. Spirit had been present all the time; she had only to recognize it.
