You can succeed in school

This (true) story is written for anyone who thinks he or she is not any good at math, English, French, chemistry . . . .

David didn't think he was good at any of these. At least, his teachers in seventh grade said he wasn't and the marks he received seemed to prove them right. He really was trying hard, but even so, things didn't get any better. Especially in algebra.

One day, when he was about bottom of the class, David's mother suggested he call a friend, a Christian Science practitioner, who could help him to pray about things. Well, talking to her couldn't make it any worse, David thought. So he called. Then he went round to the practitioner's house and talked things over. They agreed to pray together. The practitioner helped David to understand more about God and see more clearly that David, as God's child—His idea—expressed all the qualities that God gave him. He reflected qualities such as intelligence and perception.
