One time while I was repairing a wheel on my car, the screwdriver slipped and hit me forcefully in the ankle. I immediately realized that accidents cannot occur in God's kingdom. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy states (p. 424), "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection." The pain subsided at once, and I continued my job with no further thought of the incident.

That evening, as I sat reading in a chair, my ankle began to hurt. But I affirmed my true identity as God's spiritual idea and knew that nothing had power to harm me. However, by bedtime I could not stand on the foot, and the ankle was very swollen. Still I refused to accept the material evidence as a reality, knowing that man is truly spiritual, not material.

When I got up the following morning, my first steps were a bit painful, but I knew, as the Bible tells us, that "in him [God] we live, and move, and have our being" (Acts 17:28). For this reason, there could only be harmony in my life. This clear spiritual realization healed the injured ankle. I had to do a number of errands that day, which required a great deal of walking, but I was completely free. I am very grateful for the Way-shower, Christ Jesus; and for Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, who devoted her life completely to sharing this Science with mankind.
