With sincere gratitude I share this healing

With sincere gratitude I share this healing. Some time ago I became ill with what doctors diagnosed as advanced tuberculosis. In keeping with health laws in the province where I lived, I had to submit to a chest X-ray, and the doctor who admitted me to the sanitarium said I had six months to live.

At this time I was very new in Christian Science and had only known of this wonderful healing truth a few months. A friend who is a member of The Mother Church drove me to the sanitarium and encouraged me to stand steadfast in the truth of my real being as God's perfect child. The ninety-first Psalm was a great comfort to me at this time. It includes this verse (v. 2): "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust."

From the day I arrived, I received help through prayer from a Christian Science practitioner in another city. We corresponded regularly all during my stay. I saw this confinement as an opportunity to study as much as possible the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Many of the biblical promises and truths in Science and Health stood out to me. One of these is on page 261 of the textbook: "Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you willbring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts."
