Looking for a counselor?

Many are seeking, searching—looking for professionals who can help solve their problems. The search for problem-solvers is not new. The Bible pictures a nation's need for right counsel and their joy when they received it: "The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. ... For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor...." Isa. 9:2, 6;

The wonderful counselor described in Isaiah is the Christ, proclaiming that God—divine Life, Truth, and Love—and His son—man, made in His image and likeness—are forever at one. Jesus demonstrated the ideal man's Christly nature through his teachings and his works. He healed all types of difficulties— mental, moral, physical, economic. The healings he effected were not miraculous tricks but scientific illustrations of the saving power of Christ—Immanuel, or "God with us"—always at hand to help each one of us. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes, "The real man being linked by Science to his Maker, mortals need only turn from sin and lose sight of mortal selfhood to find Christ, the real man and his relation to God, and to recognize the divine sonship." Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 316:

As we look to the divine model, Christ, as revealed by Jesus, and start to identify ourselves with this perfect manhood, the belief that we have a troubled mind and soul inside a fleshly body starts to recede. Encouraged by Jesus' example, we are enabled to claim our Christlike, true identity, and in this identity we find peace and harmony.
