Remember your innocence

Christian Science cuts straight through the mesmeric belief that man is a blameworthy mortal. With the saving facts of existence it points our thought up toward spiritual reality rather than down into the bottomless pit of human reasoning and physical evidence. The reality of our being is that each of us is totally innocent at this moment, the upright reflection of God. Here is the ideal and only standpoint from which to silence the clamoring lie that man is a sinner trapped in mortality.

All our troubles are rooted in a misconception of God and of man's nature. Disease, for instance, has its basis in the belief that we are fragile physical personalities victimized by material laws. But this is not the truth of anyone's being. It is an inverted view of man, the treasured spiritual reflection of divine Love.

Is a wrongdoing mortal innocent? No, because he is living contrary to the true nature of man—which is really his true nature— contrary to divine law, and this sin must be destroyed. Its destruction is inevitable, since man is not a wrongdoing mortal and God's allness precludes the actual existence of sin or sinner.
