How grateful I am for the hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal

How grateful I am for the hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal. Many times healings have come to me and to members of my family as a result of our reading or singing hymns.

A few months ago I had prayed earnestly to be rid of pain. I had not spoken to anyone of my discomfort, as I wanted to prove my own ability to demonstrate Christian Science healing. When this physical problem had gone on for about a week, the telephone rang one day and a relative said she felt quite ill and wanted me to pray for her. As I hung up the receiver, these words from Hymn No. 221 came to my thought: "With joy may all obey thee/And cast out sin and pain." It was as though God were speaking to me. Realizing that I had been expressing anything but joy, I sat a few minutes reflecting gratefully on the many healings we had had through the years.

Soon the joy and confidence I felt were very strong. Then came two lines from another hymn (No. 354): "The work to be performed is ours, /The strength is all His own." When I looked up the first hymn, I found further inspiration in these words:
