How Many Ideas Are There?

This was the question our supervisor put to my co-worker and me one day when the three of us were struggling to finish a writing assignment. All that remained to be done was to complete a paragraph clarifying a basic point. But we were stuck. No grouping of words seemed adequate. We needed some fresh ideas.

All three of us were Christian Scientists, and perhaps this is what prompted the question, "How many ideas are there?" Before my co-worker or I could answer, our supervisor picked up Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, flipped through the pages, and read aloud these words of Mary Baker Eddy's: "As mortals gain more correct views of God and man, multitudinous objects of creation, which before were invisible, will become visible." Science and Health, p. 264;

And then he said, almost to himself, "So there are multitudinous ideas available right now." After a few moments of quiet contemplation, he picked up his pen and quickly finished the paragraph.
