No Smoking!

Trees appear to shed their leaves gently and without effort, producing new growth while letting go of the old. Release from the bondage of enslaving habits can be just as effortless, and it can be gained now. But sometimes the leaves need a strong assist from seasonal winds, and sometimes the tenacity of human self-will hangs on to enslaving habits till the divine facts of God and man are brought powerfully to bear on it.

Mortals often believe that indulging in material pleasures and addictive habits brings satisfaction. But it does not. The truth of this has been proved through the ages by the continuous effort of mankind to overcome such habits. Real satisfaction is found only in turning to God, good—man's divine source.

In moments of temptation or times of emotional strain, familiar to all, one can learn to rely confidently on God for support through reaching out to Him in humble prayer. Scientific prayer awakens thought to God's present, immediate help and sustains one in his desire to be free from addictive habits such as smoking, drinking, and drug-taking. Spiritually enlightened prayer supplies us with true satisfaction, which inevitably manifests itself in freedom from enslaving habits.
