Over two years have passed since Christian Science brought new birth to me, and a more spiritual understanding of God as Life, Truth, and Love. I wish to express my gratitude to God for Mrs. Eddy and for help I received from a Christian Science practitioner.

Before I knew of this religion I seemed to wander from one place to another, a prisoner of great anxiety. I was so depressed that I wanted to commit suicide in spite of having three beautiful children. I had been committed for the third time to a sanatorium for nervous disorders.

Besides my vocation as a teacher, I sold clothing in private homes. It was while selling clothing that I met the mother of a Christian Scientist who had herself been healed of the same disorders by this religion. Seeing my depressed state, the woman offered to take me to talk with her daughter. I accepted without resisting as I did not wish to slight her generosity, but with complete disbelief. Leaving that conversation with the Christian Science woman, I took with me Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and the book A Century of Christian Science Healing. When I began to read the latter book I marveled at the testimonies.
