An experience I had approximately six years ago proved for me...

An experience I had approximately six years ago proved for me the allness of God. Not with respect to health, nor against the belief of sin, but what Christ Jesus ultimately overcame.

When I was fifteen years old and in the last year of junior high school, I did all the housework along with other special studies. My mother, after a marital quarrel, was ill and had to stay in bed. She reached a critical point in the situation, and was no longer able to read. I wasn't really aware of what was happening until a day when I came home from school and found a frightening picture. My mother was in her bed, unconscious and completely cold.

Having been born into a home of Christian Scientists, and having been brought up in the Sunday School, the twenty-third Psalm came to my lips immediately. It begins with these words: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." I relied on each word of the psalm, and especially where it says (v. 4), "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me." Completely absorbed in what I was saying, I suddenly realized that my mother was speaking the words of this prayer aloud with me. When we finished it we were deeply moved and gave heartfelt thanks to God for ever-present Life. Mother got up the same day, overcoming all mortal mind's false claims with regard to the illness.
