Conviction That Heals

"Why could not we cast him out?" Matt. 17:19; the disciples asked Christ Jesus.

They had just seen the Master heal a boy stricken with epilepsy, a case of supposed devil-possession, after they had failed to heal him. This same anxious query is sometimes repeated today when a condition of disease or disturbance continues after our fervent prayers or treatment by a Christian Science practitioner.

The practitioner has healed many through Christian Science treatment, restored health through prayer acknowledging and affirming the perfection of the one God and His perfect creation, man. But now comes a case that does not yield, one that may have persisted a long time. Like the disciples, the practitioner asks why.
