My mother was a student of Christian Science before my birth

My mother was a student of Christian Science before my birth. I have always felt blessed that I was raised in such a beautiful religion, and recall her telling me, whenever I would discuss a need with her, "If it is right and you need it, God will see that you have it."

When I was old enough to be moved from a kindergarten-age class, held in a small room in the Sunday School, to an older class in the larger auditorium, how happy I was to be able to read the quotations on the wall! "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 494) was one statement. I have declared it many times since then.

While I was in high school, my mother had a nervous breakdown. Because she needed constant care, the Christian Science practitioner who was treating her recommended that we call in a Christian Science nurse. This was really a big step for our family to take, since my dad, although tolerant toward Christian Science, objected to strangers living in our house.
