The Widow and the Prophet

Long ago there was a woman who had a little boy. See I Kings, Chap. 17; She was a widow, and they lived alone. There had been no rain for a long time, so no grain grew to eat. The people became very poor because of this drought.

The widow and her son had become so poor that there was only a tiny bit of food left in the house. The woman felt very sorry for her son and for herself.

She didn't know what else to do, so she decided to go out and gather some firewood so she could cook one last meal for them. Then she thought that there was nothing else for them to do but to starve to death. She knew they needed help, but she didn't see hope for it.
