God Loves You

In contrast to the concept of a great Person up there somewhere, God, Spirit, is the Principle of the universe. He is not a principle, like the principle of mathematics, but Principle, the primary source and origin of all that is real, the cause, the Life, Mind, Soul, Truth, of being. Yet we refer to God as He, as Father-Mother, as Love.

If God were an impersonal principle, His manifestation, man, would be an impersonal expression of that principle without consciousness of itself. In other words, you wouldn't know you exist as an individual. Write 2 + 2 = 4 on a blackboard, and you have an expression of a principle, but the expression knows nothing of itself. It cannot say I because it doesn't know an I. But you know who you are. You can say I and know what you are saying.

When you say I, you are expressing something of the nature of Principle as Soul. When you say, I am God's idea, you are expressing the nature of Principle as Mind. When you say, I feel love for my fellowman, you are expressing the nature of God as Love. When you say, I am an immortal idea, you are expressing the nature of God as Life. When you say, I am pure, you are expressing the nature of God as Truth. When you become conscious of yourself as spiritual, you express the nature of God as Spirit.
