Many years ago, when a relative who was in deep trouble turned to Christian Science and got the help of a practitioner, it seemed to me she was taken at a disadvantage. Since I had been told that Christian Science was anti-Christ, I wished to protect her from something I thought to be very wrong. However, I could not denounce Christian Science while knowing nothing about it, so I asked a sister who was attending a Church of Christ, Scientist, to send me some literature. She did this, and since every article I read referred to the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I asked my sister to send me a copy of it. In addition she sent me a Christian Science Quarterly. I started studying the Lesson-Sermon right away, and soon found that the Christian Science teaching honors God even more than the religion I grew up with.

The practitioner helping my relative gave her Psalm 91 to study, so I pondered that Psalm too, and for the first time caught a glimpse of Life as Spirit.

I found in reading the textbook that I had to accept certain statements even though I did not understand them at first, and then the understanding would come.
