In my early teens, through association with a wonderful family of earnest students of Christian Science, I began to attend the Christian Science Sunday School and later found my life guided by the study of this blessed truth. My life has been enriched by class instruction from a consecrated teacher of Christian Science and by the privilege I have enjoyed serving in various capacities in the branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, wherever I have lived. The past year has been a period of great growth in looking to God for guidance, growth forced by the passing of my husband.

We owned a small, highly technical business, and he had often said that should I be forced to dispose of it alone, I should just take what I could get and not look back. When the time came that I had to dispose of the business, I had much mental housecleaning to do. The conviction came to me clearly that the whole concept of this business had been inspired by unselfed service, which is a divine idea. The business had been given to us to bless the community, and just because the owner was gone was no reason that a God-directed activity had to melt into thin air. It was my duty to continue to serve not only the hundreds of customers but the loyal employees who had helped establish the service. God does not abandon His ideas, be they man or business.

Working along these lines, I let it be known that the business was for sale. Then mortal mind arguments and advice came in from every side as to procedure. Each day and, at times, each hour, I prayed to know that I would be led to take the proper steps. One day, in working through some files, I came across the name of a man who had contacted my husband several years before, desiring to serve as a broker to sell the business. In this file I found a complete formula, worked out by my husband, for the disposal of the assets. I telephoned the broker and made an appointment. In less than one month we had three eager buyers for the business, each offering cash.
