There is no more heartening message than all that Easter has to say to us.... In many ways, you can say everything starts at Easter—everything that is, that is worth thinking about. Until then most people thought that sin and evil and death... had the last word....

The truth of Easter is as shattering to [illusions] as was the shattering of the tomb of Jesus, to let him out. A great new hope was born, a new dimension of living was released, and everything that man had half hoped was true about good triumphing in the end, about the reality of life after death, about the victory over sin and suffering, and evil being possible—all this and so much more actually was truth. The other was a nightmare from which one day we should all awaken. No one can begin to assess the implications of Easter with its matchless triumph and victory and new hope....
