As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: but as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation (I Pet. 1:14, 15)

J. B. Phillips offers: "Live as obedient children before God. Don't let your character be moulded by the desires of your ignorant days, but be holy in every department of your lives, for the one who has called you is himself holy." Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever (I Pet. 1:23)

Good News for Modern Man translates, "Through the living and eternal word of God you have been born again as the children of a parent who is immortal, not mortal." Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews (John 3:1)
