Positive Good Annuls Negative Evil

Many of the evils that beset mortal man bear a negative prefix in their names—for instance, unhappiness, disease, disability, inequality, and injustice. From a scientific point of view—and Christian Science is an exact Science—these claims, being absences, are not presences; they merely assert the absence of some form of good, at the coming of which they vanish.

In No and Yes Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes: "Christian Science shows that matter, evil, sin, sickness, and death are but negations of Spirit, Truth, and Life, which are positives that cannot be gainsaid. The subjective states of evil, called mortal mind or matter, are negatives destitute of time and space; for there is none beside God or Spirit and the idea of Spirit."^{No and Yes, p. 16;}

Christ Jesus demonstrated the law of God when he reversed negative conditions and restored individuals to a normal, positive sense of health and well-being. In several cases, death, which like darkness is not a presence but an absence, was reversed and the natural sense of life and activity restored.
