Among the many healings I have experienced, I would like to...

Among the many healings I have experienced, I would like to tell the following two. Some time ago, while at work, I was suddenly seized with a pain in my side. I held to the definition of man as stated in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 591): "The compound idea of infinite Spirit; the spiritual image and likeness of God; the full representation of Mind." The pain persisted, so I left the office and went to a quiet place to meditate. The thought came to me that matter, being nothing, had no intelligence. Therefore it was only mortal mind doing the reporting. But this could not be true, because there is no mortal mind. The only real Mind is God, and He governs the real man. At that instant the pain stopped, and there has been no recurrence.

The second healing was more recent. Arriving at church one night for a meeting, I slammed the car door on the thumb of my right hand. By holding onto statements of truth, and through the prayerful help of my passengers, I was able to go to the meeting and stay the entire time. However, when I arrived home, there was still evidence of swelling and throbbing. I asked my wife to read to me from the textbook. We both realized that Love knows no accidents, only safety; Love knows no pain, only harmony; Love knows only the perfection and concord of spiritual being. The conviction came that God's comforting, healing presence was with me according to the promise in Isaiah(41:10): "I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

I was able to retire and have a good night's rest. By the next morning there was no evidence of swelling, pain, or wound. Although my job required a lot of writing that day, it was accomplished without any inconvenience. I am sincerely grateful for the prayerful help I received both from my wife and a passenger.
