Are You Ready for Vacation?

[For children]

Vacation means a time to take it easy after faithfully doing school-work all year. It's a time to swim and dive, build a fort, pack a picnic lunch, go exploring, or sit in the shade of a cool tree and read adventure stories. Whether you go far away or spend your vacation right at home, there will be fun and rest.

Sometimes we rest from work by playing games. Or after playing hard at hide-and-seek, sometimes we lie down on a grassy hillside and almost fall asleep. The best way to rest is to think about God, whom we can know as Love, Truth, and Mind.

Have you ever seen a droopy buttercup perk up its face after a rain shower? Well, if we are rowing across the lake on a hot day, thoughts of Love's power and goodness perk us up. God's angel thoughts pour into our thinking, making us feel new and strong. Then we feel like picking up our oars and rowing some more. When Christ Jesus walked from town to town to heal and teach, or his disciples rowed him across the Sea of Galilee, they must have felt rested by thinking of Truth along the way.
