Lisabeth Uses a Concordance

[For children]

Lisabeth had just begun to take ballet lessons. Suddenly one day she noticed a bump on the bottom of her foot. In a few days there were four or five more bumps, and they hurt when she walked. She mentioned them to her ballet teacher, who said they were warts and advised Lisabeth to have them taken care of by a doctor. But when her mother found out about the warts, she and Lisabeth turned to God in the way Christ Jesus taught. Because they were Christian Scientists they prayed to heal them. But the warts did not disappear.

One day Lisabeth came home from a Brownie meeting where she had been skipping rope. And now her feet hurt badly! It was really time to heal those warts, and Lisabeth knew it. Her mother suggested that she write to a Christian Science practitioner, who lived in a distant city but who was a good friend of Lisabeth's.

So Lisabeth sat down and very carefully wrote to the practitioner, asking her help in healing the warts. In just a few days Lisabeth received a letter. The practitioner said she would be very happy to help her. But she gave Lisabeth a job to do too. She told her that every night Lisabeth and her mother should take the Concordance to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and look up and study several citations under the word "substance."
