I am very grateful for the healings I have had in Christian Science and would like to tell of two instances of protection from accidents our family have had.

Living in a remote part of the country, we had a mile and a half of dirt road that was unusable whenever it rained. We would leave the car out and take the tractor from our home out to the car when we needed to go to town. One evening while coming home, our two children and I were riding on the steel front load bucket of the tractor and my husband was driving. Suddenly I felt very uneasy and fearful. I prayed. I knew that we were governed and guided by God and that we were in His loving care at all times. After pondering the truth for a few minutes I felt at peace and told the children to hold their legs out from the bucket we were sitting in instead of dangling them back under. Shortly after this a front wheel spindle broke; and when the tractor went down on the axle, the loader hit the ground with a force that would have crushed our legs if they had been folded back as before. With gratitude we humbly acknowledged this proof of God's protection.

On the other occasion our daughter had ridden out on the horse to get the cows. After she had been gone quite a while, I had the same uneasy feeling of fear as before. I pondered Mrs. Eddy's statement (Science and Health, p. 424), "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony." Again, after I prayed quietly and earnestly, the uneasiness left. Our daughter came back with the cows. She said that the horse had become entagled in some barbed wire and had plunged and bucked, but that she had stayed on his back and that he had gotten loose without any ill effects. Once again I gratefully and humbly thanked God.
