Speak with Authority

What is it that invests one with the ability to speak with authority in his daily experience? How can one silence the intimidating and belittling tendencies of the carnal mind that would invade one's harmony and well-being?

A simple answer is found in the Scriptural fact that man's birthright of dominion entitles one to this authority. It is recorded in the first chapter of Genesis: "God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." Gen. 1:26; Man as the image and likeness of God has always been endowed with the power to express authority because of his God-given dominion "over all the earth." One's need is to understand and utilize this power.

"How do I proceed?" one may ask. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, clearly states in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth. This understanding casts out error and heals the sick, and with it you can speak 'as one having authority.'" Science and Health, p. 14;
