I have had many proofs of the healing power of the Christ. When we express Christlike qualities, this Christ-power is available to every one of us. I am very thankful that God's guidance led me to Christian Science.

Before coming into Christian Science, I received medical treatment almost every two weeks for fifteen years. I had had three operations for an internal condition. After the third operation I was told the condition was cancerous and that if the trouble started up again I could never have another operation. Because of this medical prognosis and other disabilities I began to look into Christian Science. I became a member of The Mother Church and a member of a Christian Science Society.

I had been a student of Christian Science for about two and a half years when one morning, as I stepped out of bed, I was seized with intense pain and lost consciousness. When I regained consciousness, I asked a member of my family to hand me my books and to ring a Christian Science friend. I earnestly studied the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. The friend called a Christian Science practitioner for me, and the relief was almost instantaneous. But it would seem I had not completely overcome the fear of the disease. Some months later the pain began to make itself felt again. I did much prayerful work, with the desire that I might gain a better understanding of God and His healing Christ. There was much improvement, and at times I was free of pain, but then the false evidence would appear again. Then an internal enlargement made itself felt, and I seemed to be like Job when he said (3:25), "The thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me."
