I am most deeply grateful for Christian Science and its many benefits, for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, for class instruction, for graduation from the Nurses Training Course at a Sanatorium of the Christian Science Benevolent Association, and for service on the staff of a Christian Science nursing home.

I became ill one day with a form of influenza and spent my entire time off duty studying the Bible, Mrs. Eddy's works, and current Christian Science literature, looking for guidance in my prayer because I wanted to work the problem out myself.

The Lesson-Sermon planned for that week in the Christian Science Quarterly was on Matter. As I read the Golden Text each day I felt sure the answer was there. The text was (Zech. 2: 13), "Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord." If I could only see the answer! In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 287): "In Science, Truth is divine, and the infinite God can have no un-likeness. Did God, Truth, create error? No!" I tried to hold on to this thought whenever fear seemed to engulf me. On the same page we read: "The supposition that life, substance, and intelligence are in matter, or of it, is an error. Matter is neither a thing nor a person, but merely the objective supposition of Spirit's opposite."
