As a child I attended a Christian Science Sunday School. My mother was an earnest student of the religion, and through her loving help and that of a practitioner on occasion, I received many of the blessings that come through the application of Science. However, I did not become an active student upon reaching adulthood.

After experiencing good health and well-being for many years, I manifested an infection in my foot which caused much swelling and considerable pain. The condition did not yield to my declarations of truth; and because others were urging medical help, I visited a doctor. Treatment was prescribed, which I followed faithfully for a couple of weeks; but there was no improvement. Finally the doctor said he would like me to consult a specialist and kindly offered to make an appointment for me. I told him I would call him later about what I would do.

I remembered something of what I had been taught in Christian Science, and I decided that I would turn to God for healing. I called a practitioner, who agreed to support me and give me treatment.
