Freedom Through Self-knowledge

Recently a young man, a member of a minority race, approached a Reading Room librarian with the question, "What does Christian Science teach about me?" With great joy the librarian told him of his spiritual identity as the image and likeness of God and of God's love for all His children. She told him that the loving Father knows His children as spiritual ideas, not as corporeal beings divided into races, and that He loves all with an equal, unvarying love.

The young man listened attentively and was glad when he was told that he could borrow a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. He was eager to read the book that would tell him of his real identity as a child of God. He purchased a copy of the Tenets of Christian Science so that he might know what the Christian Science church stands for.

How wonderful it is that we may say to everyone that God knows him as His ow image and likeness! For every individual, in his real brine, is the perfect man of God's creating, the expression of infinite good.
