About two years ago I was being driven by a friend on a back country road on a very stormy night. The roads were slippery, and although I had no apprehension for our safety, I felt impelled to know that man dwells in the safety of divine Love. At the time I recalled Mrs. Eddy's teaching in Science and Health (p. 424), "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony."

As we approached the next severe curve in the road our car started to skid as if we were going to lose control. At this time one word came to me—God. I felt immediately His ever-presence, and coincidently the car came to a safe resting place on the side of the road instead of going down a cliff or into a rugged rock formation. The spiritual truth which was so apparent at that time and has remained with me ever since is (Ps. 46:1), "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

Christian Science is the way of Life, and it is a beautiful way. I have been an active Scientist for only six years, but it is hard to imagine life without this religion. I have relied unreservedly on Science for spiritual direction, health, and supply. In each case the tangible results have been far better than I could have imagined, and spiritual growth is the blessing for which I am most grateful.
